SONOMA COUNTY ARTS ORGANIZATIONS JOIN FORCES TO CREATE COMPREHENSIVE VIRTUAL SUMMER ARTS CAMP EXPERIENCES FOR LOCAL YOUTH

AVFilm, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC), and Transcendence Theatre Company (TTC) are collaborating on scheduling our virtual summer camps to benefit the youth of our community. Collectively, the organizations will provide seven weeks of virtual, wrap-around summer arts camp experiences for local students sheltering in place. Beginning June 22nd, take the AVFilm Filmmaking Bootcamp to prepare for capturing footage of themselves and their families during the rest of the summer camps. Next, students head to the LBC Summer Arts Sampler Camp for hip-hop dance, ukulele, & percussion for one of the three week-long sessions. Then students attend the Transcendence Theatre Company camps for theater, improv, dance, and movement. Finally, students return to the AVFilm Filmmaking Bootcamp to put together their final footage from the summer. Students are encouraged to mix and match camps or take them all! A showcase of student films will take place at a later date.

About AVFilm

AVFilm began in 2015 when film lovers in Cloverdale and Healdsburg came together with a goal of bringing the rural North Bay more access to cinema arts events and education. The first AVFest featured 24 films across four days on four screens in two cities. In the eight years since our origin, AVFilm has exhibited more than 500 films and now serves more than 5,000 people, 1,000 public school students, and 600 lifelong learners through year-round educational and cultural programming. Through the transformative power of film, AVFilm brings global perspectives into our community, builds partnerships to broaden our impact, and educates, empowers, and engages students of all ages.
